If it wasn’t for the sponsors we think the party wouldn’t have been such a blast so we thank Hunters, Miller Genuine Draft and Sondag Koerant. With all the formalities out of the way let us recap what happen on the night, it was like we had what they call post dramatic stress but instead we had post dramatic ecstasy with the images fragmented in our brains so that we can recall the moments when ever we wanted to. We started the evening at 19:00, while walking true the trenches with our handy camera ready to capture the events that what happening on the stage. Nemo mentioned that it felt like he was back in Vietnam, we just look at him and said he must ease up on the Medal of Honor games for a while. The first band we checked out was One Day Remains that consists out of 4 band members a Vocalist/Guitarist, Lead Guitarist, Bassist and a Drummer. They are an assume band and there song brake the silence just got everybody jumping up and down, it is a catchy song that make you want to break the silence and scream out I am going to have my say I am not holding it back anymore.
They rocked us until it was time for Isochronous, a relatively young band that was formed in the year 2006. They are a dynamic band that bring something new to the word rock & roll with there synth-rock vibes. Isochronous consists of Richard Brokensha (Vocals and Guitar), Alex Parker (Keyboards and Vocals), Marco Benini (Drums and Vocals) and Franco Schoeman (Bass and Vocals). It is like you are at an all your can eat buffet when you watch Isochronous performing on stage you don’t now were to start but you know when you are finished you would have enjoyed your night to the fullest. It is one of the few bands we have seen in a while that brings that originality and energy to the stage that make you say wow what was that was that a bird, a plane no it was Isochronous (look out for there cd review on RockingSA soon).
Then it was time for Jack Parow, we must be frank when we first heard his song on the radio “jy dink jy is cooler as eke” we thought who is this band give us a break, but what can we say if you see him live you cant help but be amazed at a south African boy that has a talent to rap in Afrikaans and make you love it. Jack Parow is an amazing entertainer with his long cap that looks like it is something a giant would wear and his t-shirts that states sex, drugs and boerewors. He make us all sing the words and the thing that stand out is that with every word that comes out of his mouth it rimes in the most unusual way like “jy dink jy is cooler as eke want ek ry op met n bus en jy flieg af met n jet”. Jack Parow has emerged into the South African scene as a Afrikaans Rap Artist that will amaze you with his uncanny lyrics that at the same time make you say no he didn’t. go and check out Jack Parow on Face book.
Crash Car Burn was the second last act for the night and what a show they gave us even when the power tripped two times the still climbed back on stage to finish there set. In the last couple of years they shown us why they are one of the S.A. bands to look out for from forming the band out of the band tweak the have set the stage on fire with four members namely Garth Barnes (Vocals and Guitar), Ian Broekhuizen (Guitar), Brendan Barnes (Drums) & Etienne vand Rensburg (Bass). Crash Car Burn finished there set with go get away an awesome song that makes you sing along with every lyric. The words go get away from here echoing true your mind until the song is done. You cant almost believe that this band have a tour in America under there belt and it makes you so excited that that they are from our blood an south African band that excels every time they climb on stage. Then it was time for “Pire al la resistance”, The Narrow. You don’t see The Narrow as often as we would like in South Africa. So when they have a show, it is jam packed and you can’t help but to get ecstatic with anticipation until they climb on the stage. The Narrow consist of 5 members, Hanu (Vocals) Emile (Guitars), Jow (Bass Guitar), Deon (Guitars) and Lias (Drummer). They played us all of the Favourites like 20 Questions, Million dollar man, Shoot the DJ and Lonely, Lonely to name a few. The Narrow is one of South African bands that autonomies the talent we have here and leaves you with wow did that just happen. It was an assume show with Hanu jumping from the stage to the speakers in front of the stage to give you a show that will stick with you till the end of days. To end off the narrow had us all singing to there song wile head banding your heads from side to side. RockingSa enjoyed the start of 2010 with a couple of drinks with The Narrow.
